Cha Cha ( also Cha Cha Cha, triple Mambo ) originates from Mambo (originates in Haiti) which has a slow tempo. Cha Cha became popular in early 1950s and continued to be popular till now.

Cha Cha has  three quick steps, the feet in the chasse form as in many other dance steps. The count is cha-cha-cha (or 4 & 1 = chasse) and two slower steps on the one beat and two beat and count as 2-3.

The whole count as 2--3--4-&-1 or 2--3--Cha-Cha-Cha.

 In Cha Cha, the feet remains close to the flooor, sort of gliding or suffling.

The hips are relaxed and upper body from loin on (hip) moves usually in opposite direction form lower body.

The knees are  straight during  forward and backward motions ( 2--3) in International form.
